This wiki is a place for Rebooting Democracy conference participants to share tips for getting to and around Portland, things to do before, during, and after the conference, and ways to keep the conversation going after you go home.

Transportation, lodging, and food

Getting around Portland by foot, bike, or mass transit is easy and fun! If you prefer to ride, though, but don't want to drive alone, you may want to list yourself (and your vehicle capacity, if appropriate) on the RideSharing page. (Keep in mind that the Bus Project's bus is making trips up and down I-5.)

Mass Transit: Portland has a great system of light rail trains (MAX), the Portland Streetcar, and city buses (not to be confused with our bus!). The main website for Portland mass transit is www.trimet.org . Check the TriMetRoutes page on this wiki for more detailed information about routes to and from the conference and nearby attractions.

To get to Montgomery Park via TriMet from anywhere in Portland, use this Google Maps Transit page to find a bus/train route - just type in an address there. Buses and trains cost $2.05 for a regular trip, slightly less for shorter trips.

Lodging: As listed on the conference site, we do have a block of rooms reserved at the Ace Hotel. However, many people may want to stay with friends and fellow attendees and save a few bucks.

If you have room for guests during the conference, or want to find a spare room or couch, put your name and some sort of contact info on the page RoomShares.

Food: There are lots of great places to eat and drink in Portland. Depending on when you arrive, you may have time to grab several meals out before and after the conference, and there's always that late-night pint and policy discussion to consider.
